Ignore-amus

Spending up to an hour every day reading the news has turned me into Photobucket. I don't want to be someone who sticks her fingers in her ears and ignores how messed up things are, but you output what you input. So I'm making an effort to lighten up on the news: No longer will I have a cup of Post-Dispatch with a Huffington mint and an NPR chaser every morning. It's time to focus on the nuance of what goes on around my actual self, not what goes on around the political sphere. I've asked my friend O'possum to help.

Saw him around 7 a.m. on my way to water the squirrel-deformed plants. Though he is little, he threatened to attack by opening his mouth as I approached him. He was probably hissing with his little O'possum vocal chords, but I was too gigantic to perceive the sound. Still hasn't learned how to play himself.
He's probably the culprit for my deformed plants, not the squirrels. I've probably been blaming the most visible, which may not be the most culpable.

In other non-news, skateboarders have discovered the abandoned school across the street:

They're filming their tricks--one person will attempt to jump the stairs, and another will crouch on a skateboard, slowly rolling with, holding a used camcorder. Yes, I am the old woman peering through the blinds. Crossing my arms and saying, "Well, I hope brewery security doesn't make them leave." It's cute and makes me feel good about the neighborhood.
What do the stalwart do during times of rumored crisis? Focus on the beauty of their surroundings. Like a person trying to forget the injury in her left leg, she thinks about how much her right leg doesn't hurt.
